Plan Your Visit

We can't wait to see you in October at Alumni & Families Weekend 2024 and we want to make your visit as smooth as possible. Should you have any questions about getting to or around campus, please contact us at [email protected] or [email protected].

Getting to Campus

Getting to Foggy Bottom Campus

Foggy Bottom is conveniently located in the heart of Washington, D.C., close to three major airports, including Ronald Reagan Washington National, Washington Dulles International and Baltimore Washington International, as well as to Union Station where you can take the bus or train. The Foggy Bottom/GWU Metro stop is located right on campus, with service to the Orange, Blue and Silver Metro lines. Taxis are available throughout the city. Pricing depends on distance and the number of people.

Getting to the Mount Vernon Campus

The George Washington University’s Mount Vernon Campus is located at 2100 Foxhall Road NW, in the verdant Palisades neighborhood of Northwest Washington DC, just three miles northwest of the Foggy Bottom Campus. Mount Vernon provides a more traditional college campus than its Foggy Bottom counterpart while still offering students easy access to all that the nation’s capital has to offer.

Mount Vernon Express

To access the Mount Vernon Campus, we encourage you to take advantage of the Vern Express, a free shuttle service connecting the Foggy Bottom and Mount Vernon campuses, which is available to all alumni and families. The schedule is available on the Vern Express website.

Buses to the Vern Harvest

Coach buses are operating between 2 - 6pm on Saturday, 10/19 to take Alumni & Families Weekend attendees to the Vern Harvest at the Mount Vernon Campus. Coach buses will pick up and drop off from Foggy Bottom in front of Funger hall. Coach buses will drop off and pick up at the Mount Vernon Campus on Whitehaven Pkwy (entrance to the Mount Vernon Campus).

In addition, the Mount Vernon Express Shuttle (VEX) is running every 15 minutes in front of Tompkins Hall. Attendees with mobility issues should use the VEX shuttle as they will be dropped off at the clocktower stop closer to the Vern Harvest event.
